Amherst Pediatrics History
Amherst Pediatrics was established in 1974 with the merger of the practices of Drs. Steinhart, Eisenberg and Wilkes. Founded on the belief that great care not only mandates expertise and compassion, but also requires time, patience and passion, the practice quickly grew to become one of the largest pediatric practices in the Western New York area.
Due to the size of the practice and the desire for an updated facility, Amherst Pediatrics moved from its original location at 40 North Union in Williamsville to its current location in 1987.
Now located at 25 Hopkins Road in Williamsville, N.Y., Amherst Pediatrics consists of eight board-certified pediatricians, one nurse practitioner and over 20 support staff. The physical facility is housed in two buildings and encompasses 8,800 square feet of space. With 21 exam rooms, a teenage center, separate entrances and waiting rooms for well and sick patients and a clinical laboratory, Amherst Pediatrics has the capacity and technology to provide the best in childcare.
Amherst Pediatrics understands how difficult it can be to fit office visits into parents’ busy schedules. To ensure patients are able to see the doctors as necessary, the practice varies its hours to be open nights, weekends and all holidays. This type of consideration combined with excellent care has earned the practice recognition as a premier pediatric group. Based on measurable quality standards, Independent Health named Amherst Pediatrics the number one pediatric practice in Western New York in 2002.
